Looking for the Microsoft Office 2013 version? Check here:

A common question we get is how do you fix it if in a Microsoft 2007 product, like Word or PowerPoint, suddenly the top toolbar disappears. It will reappear if you roll the cursor over it, but acting like a drop down menu, it will immediately disappear again when released. The solution isn’t intuitive, so I’m sharing it here.
1. Click one of the tabs that is visible to open the taskbar.
2. Right Click on any one of the tabbed areas within the toolbar.
3. This will bring up an pop-up menu box, the last one of which says “Minimize Ribbon.”
4. Drag the cursor over to “Minimize Ribbon” and let go.

For me, menus disappear when I click on them from the tabs or when I right click on a menu. There are a lot of other “solutions” out there for this issue, but I cannot get them to work for me.

It’s hard to suggest anything without seeing it myself. Did you check and make sure the pushpin is engaged as the post describes? Even if you don’t think it’s that, it would be my first step.

Sorry, I don’t recall seeing a pushpin recommendation. I will re-read the blog.
