On Tuesday, April 28th, your Cedar Rapids Kirkwood library will be holding its second “Exam Cram” event from 8AM until 9PM. There will be a variety of new and recurring activities being held on the library’s first floor to help students with their papers and finals, as well as special activities for stress relief and fun. Of course, we will have coffee, tea, lemonade and popcorn throughout the day!
Academic activities will include writing tutors from 10:10 AM until 7PM. If writing center appointments are gone, come to the library, as this will be on a first come, first served basis. Here is our schedule of “tutors extraordinaire:”
10:10 – 11:10 – Keith Reins, English faculty
11:10 – 12:20 – Carrie Barker, Writing skills tutor
12:20 – 3:30 – Jessica Haight-Angelo, English faculty
3:30 – 5:00 – Carrie Barker, Writing skills tutor
5:00 – 7:00 – Willie Barbour, English faculty
Math tutoring will be provided from 8AM – 7PM at Tutoring Services in 2071 Cedar Hall.
MOUS (Microsoft Office User Specialist) certification will be offered from 2:30PM – 5:00PM
Room 223 Nielsen Hall, Sandy O’Brien, testing (must be started by 4pm)
Room 224 Nielsen Hall, Cassaralyn Dooling, practice simulation
Now for the FUN, we will have board games and puzzles in the library classroom, coloring books and crayons on the library tables and even electric massage chairs when you feel like taking a break. AND thanks to Kristi Murdock, Animal Health Technology, we will have another visit from Therapy Dogs during activity hour at 11:15AM. A tai chi class, taught by our very own faculty member, Don Arenz, will be held at 10:10AM in the library classroom. AND throughout the day, our very popular student raffle will be back. Prizes include two $5.00 gift certificates from the Café and some popular items donated by the campus bookstore, including a 25% off coupon for EVERY student.
Other ideas and suggestions for how to make this day even better? Please let us know. Updates to the day’s activities will be posted here and on the library’s Facebook page, so check back often and plan to visit your Kirkwood library on Tuesday, April 28th!
