Pick Up a Book

This year the Kirkwood Community College Library in Cedar Rapids is joining the library trend for a special Valentine’s display called “Blind Date With a Book.” The idea is to help you spread your reading wings by trying something that you wouldn’t normally choose. To that end books are wrapped up so you can’t see the title or author and put on display. Each book is labeled with its category (Fiction, Non-Fiction, or Graphic Novel) and offers a pick up line on its plain brown wrapper. They provide a hint about what the book may be about. Be Brave! Pick one up!

Win a Prize

If you want to participate, grab a wrapped book off the display and check it out. When you open it up you will find tucked in the pages a drawing slip, fill it out and drop it off at the reference desk next time you’re in the library for a prize drawing. We have two $10 gift certificates from the college bookstore up for grabs.

There are no limits on the times you can enter, but you have to check out a wrapped book for each entry. The display will be up through February 26th and drawing slips must be turned in by the 26th to be included in the drawing. Winners will have 2 weeks after first contacted to stop by the library to pick them up or they forfeit the prize. The contest is open to students, faculty, and staff.
