Are you stressing out about those final exams and research papers right about now? Your Cedar Rapids Kirkwood library and tutoring services is here to help! On Tuesday, December 1st, the first floor of the Library and Tutoring Services (at 2071 Cedar Hall) will once again be hosting a special day of activities for fun, relaxation and study. Door prizes, for students, will be provided by the Cafe, Bookstore, and Student Life. AND Hot chocolate, coffee, bowls of candy and bags of popcorn will be available at the library throughout the day!

First, let’s get serious! Tutoring services will provide math and science help from 8AM – 6PM and computer skills tutoring from 8AM – 7PM. Writing tutors will be provided by the Writing Center faculty on the first floor of the Library. The schedule for writing assistance is:

9:05-11:05 Willie Barbour

11:15-1:15 Steve Wolcott

1:15-3:00 Steve Price

3:00-7:00 Jessica Lora Height-Angelo

Now for the fun! The library will have games, puzzles (look for the 252 piece one of the Cedar Rapids campus) and coloring throughout the day. Kristi Murdock, Animal Health Technology, will be bringing therapy dogs to the library during activity hour (11:15 – 12:10). AND for the very first time, the library  will be providing free 10 minute chair massages by therapist Shannon Williams in the library classroom for stressed out students from 10AM – 1PM. (A sign-up sheet will be available on the day of Exam Cram.)

If you miss the chair massages on December 1st, you will have a second chance to have a foot, hand or neck massage on December 2nd from 10:30AM – 1:00PM in the library classroom. These will be provided by Stephanie Berberich who will be using essential oils to soothe you! First come, first served. These are open to students, faculty, and staff, as is a Tai Chi class, by instructor Don Arenz, in the library classroom at 10:10AM on Monday, December 7th.

Then once finals begin, the library will be providing coffee, hot chocolate and tea to get you through those late nights! What more could a student ask for? But if you have other ideas or suggestions, email us: library@kirkwood.edu   We’re here to serve you!

UPDATE: Another visit by Therapy Dogs on Thursday, December 10th at 11:15AM and at 1PM. Ziva and friends will visit at 11:15 and Franklin and Havana will be here at 1PM.
