26083_388259431458_4447290_nThanks to the Iowa Legislature, Iowa Workforce Development has purchased for all Iowa Libraries access to the Learning Express database. Learning Express offers support for studying for a wide variety of tests with tutorials, practice tests (that record your progress), and e-books specifically designed to help you prep. We were able to add a link to this from our website last year and it has quickly become one of the libraries go to, bread and butter databases as it has information on everything from HiSET (search by name), COMPASS (search by name), Praxis (search by name),  and TEAS (search for “Nursing School”). It also offers support and online tutorials for skills that are just generally useful, like how to get the most out of PowerPoint.

Access it by clicking here.

You’ll want to access it the first time from a  Kirkwood computer so they can match the IP. Register with whatever username and password you want on that first time on the site and after that you access it from anywhere using that same username and password that you created.

They have just rolled out some significant changes and we wanted to share some highlights:

  • A new School Center which aligns with Common Core State Standards (CCSS).
  • New tests for the replacement for the high school equivalency test (formerly Iowa used GED, now it uses HiSET).
  • Lots of new eBooks within Learning Express including “new titles in almost every center and Flash Reviews for Nursing Assistant/Nurse Aide, Pharmacy Technician, and TOEFL iBT(r).”
  • New courses for PowerPoint 2013 at basic, intermediate, and advanced levels, and a PowerPoint 2013: What’s New tutorial.
