The iPads have landed!
UPDATE: We have drastically changed our Ipad policy. Read about the current system here:
At the Cedar Rapids campus Library, beginning for the semester on September 8th, any Kirkwood student who is taking credit courses can check out an iPad for up to a week at a time. And YES, they’re free – just like nearly everything else the Library does. (Sorry, faculty and staff – these are limited to students.) We have 20 iPads that come pre-stocked with a variety of awesome apps, and they’re ready and waiting for you. Our goal is to get you learning and creating, to get you familiar and savvy with this technology that you perhaps don’t have access to at home.
These iPads are part of a digital literacy grant received by Kirkwood Library Services called “We Read, We Use, We Make.” The grant was funded by the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation, and we thank them heartily for their support.
So how do you get one? What do you need to know?
Simply come to the Library, when we’ll ask you to fill out our release form that has all the nitty gritty details. You may want to read it now, so you know what you’ll be asked to sign, and you can even print and sign it before you come, if you like. *Please note that the iPads will not be available during the first two weeks of any semester.*
We look forward to seeing you and what you make with these powerful toys. And hey, if you like them enough, you can walk right next door and buy your own from Kirkwood’s amazing EagleTech store.
